The founders of Jake's Reindeer Race and the Maynard Foundation for Childhood Cancer are committed to supporting other cancer (and childhood illness) fundraisers throughout the Richmond area. We strongly believe that shared research, awareness, and support can provide a better outlook for all people facing cancer and other medical diseases or disorders.

The following are some of the events in which we have participated in an effort to raise additional funds and awareness for childhood cancer research, along with other children's medical needs:

We participated in the 1st Annual Spending Time Ending Rett fundraiser in Richmond, VA for Rett Syndrome research on February 29, 2008.

We are proud to have supported the International Hospital for Children in 2007 and 2006, as well as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and fundraisers for ALS, juvenille diabetes, and more.

We are honored to have contributed monetary donations to the Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) and CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation this year (2008) to support their efforts in fighting childhood cancer and sarcoma.

Several members of the Maynard family (and MCCF Board) attended the Sarcoma
Foundation of America (SFA) Gala in New York City on May 21, 2007. The event raises money to support the SFA in its efforts to fund research seeking to eradicate
sarcoma, a dangerous form of cancer affecting both children and adults.

We held three Anthem Lemon-Aid stands the weekend of July 14-16th, 2006 along with friends and family. The community-wide event was organized by the Children's Miracle Network who distributed the proceeds to VCU Health Systems and Richmond Children's Hospital.

As a family, we proudly participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in May 2006.

We participated in the Ukrops Monument Avenue 10k in April 2006, with one of the race charities being VCU Massey Cancer Center.

Jake was a survivor model in the Cure By Design Fashion Show held at LaDifference Furniture Store in March 2006 for the American Cancer Society.

We were honored to work with the Fight SMA/Andrew's Buddies organization in their efforts to promote their Fighter Mom program, A Program to Support Mothers (and Others) who are Fighting for the Health of their Children.

We have supported St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Team-In-Training efforts for childhood cancer research.

Jake and his mother, Cindy, gave a lengthy radio interview for the Children's Miracle Network fundraising drive in 2003. A preschool-aged Jake, in his first interview ever, sang "You're A Grand Old Flag" on the air!

Cindy Maynard provided a testimonial advertisement for Richmond Children's Hospital, which aired through the Summer of 2003. Jake was a physical therapy patient at Children's Hospital for years.
